Mums Cooking Review

Today for dessert mum made chantilly cream. She also made me a raspberry milkshake. When she first presented the milkshake to me, it looked more like a sorbet, because she used frozen raspberries which increased the volume of the drink. This also made it freezing cold. I decided to wait until it melted. It was then much nicer and far creamier, smoother and thinner. It had a beautiful flavour, with the sour flavour of the raspberries mixing with the light creaminess that made it so flavoursome.

The chantilly cream to me did not taste at all like chantilly cream. Yes, the sweetness and the dense creamy flavour were present, but they did not come together to produce the chantilly cream that my mum never fails to please with. Instead, the flavour was exactly that of Ben and Jerry’s baked alaska ice cream, which I am very fond of. It was also far more dense, smooth and rich than my mother’s usual chantilly cream.

However, those two were nothing compared to their child. When I combined the chantilly cream and the raspberry milkshake, where one lacked the other excelled, and vice versa. It was sensational.

Before, the milkshake was strong and fairly sour, but the cream balanced it out with it’s subtle sweet flavour. On its own the cream was slightly sickly, but the sharp and fruity flavour of the drink cancelled that out in a way that made my taste buds want to hit the replay button over and over again.

My message to you is have a go, try things for yourself. Don’t settle for what other people present you with, as good or bad as it may be, because it will always become better when you add your own little touch.
